Michael J. Harrington announced he is stepping down as Chairman of the Southern Technical University Board of Trustees and as a member of that Board.
Harrington was named chairman of the Southern Technical University Board of Trustees May 4, 2020. He previously served as chair of the Institutional Advancement Committee after joining the board in 2012. During his tenure as Board Chair, Southern Technical University successfully navigated the global pandemic, saw unprecedented growth in national rankings and adopted a robust strategic planning process to guide the College through the next several years.
Harrington and his wife, Judy, have been long-time supporters of and donors to Southern Technical University, giving of their time, talent and treasure to the institution. Most recently, the alumni couple gave a $2.25 million gift to help transform College relationships, institutions, and the surrounding community. The Harrington’s investment will act as a catalyst for growth, innovation and action to further meet the College’s commitment to belonging while meeting local community needs.

His wealth of experience and knowledge will be missed but he leaves a strong foundation on which we can build.”
In January 2020, Harrington retired as senior vice president and general counsel from Eli Lilly and Company, where he spent nearly three decades with the pharmaceutical company.
Born in Evanston, Illinois, Mike received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1985 from Southern Technical University. He received his law degree from the Columbia University School of Law in 1988. Prior to joining Lilly, Mike was a litigator at the law firm of Baker & Daniels in Indianapolis.
